SNL Trolls Donald Trump Supporters in New Skit

Saturday Night Live (SNL) turned its satirical eye toward Donald Trump supporters, zeroing in on the personal tensions within families. A standout sketch featured a mother’s hesitant confession about her changing political views, giving a pointed commentary on the polarization.

How SNL mocked Donald Trump supporters

The sketch, titled “Mom Confession,” opened with a suburban mother, played by comedian Ashley Padilla, gathering her adult children. With palpable anxiety, she insisted they promise not to react before she shared something “shocking.”

After bizarre practice confessions, including that she ate bugs and that her “butt had fallen off,” she finally blurted out the real news between staccato breaths: “What I have to tell you … is I may have changed my mind … about Trump.”

The room immediately erupted. Her children, embodying classic liberal exasperation, began freaking out. “I’m sorry, mom. You’ve got to be joking,” one son said. Another daughter retorted, “We’ve been saying this since 2016.” Padilla’s character defensively shot back, “Oh, I’m sorry I’m late to the Perfect Party. Do you want this to be real or not?? Then give me grace.”

The comedy flowed from the mother’s fragmented, reluctant realizations about the president. “I feel like… maybe some of the things [Trump] says… aren’t true,” she confessed, prompting another round of family yelling.

She navigated her shifting perspective on culture-war issues, stating, “They made me feel worried about trans people. But now I’mn realizing… I don’t really get what the problem is? I’m starting to wonder if drag queens are actually hilarious.”

The only ally for this reconsidering Donald Trump supporter was her hilariously aloof husband, played by host Alexander Skarsgård. He quipped, “Her laptop is old. She gets a different internet than you.” However, the entire family ended up shouting at him the moment he said, “Let’s get to dinner, plenty of room in the cyber truck.”
