The Golden Globes recently introduced a new podcast category, aiming to recognize excellence in audio storytelling. However, Joe Rogan has sparked a conversation with his decision to opt out of joining the nominees. Putting curiosity to rest, the UFC commentator has revealed the real reason behind his Golden Globes snub.
Joe Rogan shares why he didn’t get nominated at the Golden Globes
The Golden Globes introduced a best podcast award, but Joe Rogan opted out. The renowned comedian revealed that he didn’t secure a nomination for the Golden Globes’ Best Podcast Award due to his refusal to shell out the $500 submission fee.
“I don’t want to be a part of that,” Rogan said on Thursday’s episode of The Joe Rogan Experience. “A lot of people say, ‘Why wasn’t Joe Rogan nominated for the Golden Globes? Why did Amy Poehler win?’ I didn’t submit,” Rogan said on the show. “They asked me to submit to be nominated for the Golden Globes and you had to pay $500. And the $500 is like for paperwork or whatever. I said, ‘No.’”
Despite being a top contender based on listenership, Joe Rogan’s podcast wasn’t among the six nominees. Amy Poehler took home the first-ever Golden Globes podcast award for “Good Hang.”
While Joe Rogan admitted he hasn’t checked out Poehler’s podcast, he said, “I’m sure it’s good. It won. I’m sure someone must love it. If it sucked, they would give it to someone else, right?”
Rogan further added, “I just know that I didn’t submit for the Golden Globes award.” “I don’t want to be a part of that. I don’t care. You’re just a group of people that just decide, all of a sudden, that you’re going to give an award out? ‘I get a trophy’? F**k off!”
While discussing the Globes’ podcast award with his guest Bert Kreischer, Rogan said, “I already won.” His podcast has been ruling Spotify for five years and dominated YouTube in 2025.
