New Chiefs coach Eric Bieniemy seemingly shared a positive update about Travis Kelce‘s NFL career. He revealed that he had a little talk with Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, further expressing his excitement for the reunion. For those unfamiliar, he was the Chiefs’ running backs coach from 2013 to 2017 and offensive coordinator from 2018 to 2022. This will mark his second stint with the team as an OC.

During a press conference, Bieniemy shared an update on Kelce’s retirement, suggesting that the tight end might return for yet another season. Explaining his excitement about reuniting with the Chiefs’ famous duo and meeting them again, Mahomes and Kelce, he added, “I’ve had just a small, minimal conversation with both, and they all have been great, but more than anything, it’s just the excitement of reuniting.”
He also clarified that he had a brief chat with them, something he always enjoys, but noted that it wasn’t about football. “It feels good just to sit down and have conversations with guys. To be honest, I haven’t talked any football or anything, it’s just the excitement of seeing each other.”
Earlier, many also speculated that Kelce’s return to the field might be possible given his evident excitement over meeting with Bieniemy during a conversation on The New Heights podcast. He said, “I can’t wait to see him back in the building, man. He’s one of my favorite coaches of all time, one of my favorite people of all time.”
Reflecting on his career growth under him, he added, “I’ve had so many unbelievable growing moments under him as a player, as a person, and I just love the guy. It’s gonna be awesome to see him back in the building and see him back wearing the Chiefs logo, baby.”
Although Kelce has yet to announce his decision publicly, in an earlier chat with the reporters last year, he stated that he’ll decide his move by the end of the season, possibly by early March (via ESPN).
