Will Arnett has revealed the embarrassing story of meeting Kevin Costner in the early days of his career. The actor and comedian shared this rare anecdote while battling hot wings in his recent appearance on Hot Ones.

Will Arnett made a shocking confession on his recent appearance on the January 29 episode of Hot Ones. At one point during the interview, host Sean Evans asked Arnett about his “most painful” audition story. In response, the actor recalled his embarrassing meeting with Kevin Costner shortly after getting food poisoning.
“Remember, Kevin Costner did that movie, I think it was called The Postman? Anybody remember that movie?” Arnett began. “The night before, I had eaten something bad, and I ended up going to the hospital because I was so dehydrated from being ill,” he shared.
Arnett continued, “At that point, that afternoon, going to meet him, that was the furthest I’d been away from the bathroom in like 14 hours. And I remember getting up there and meeting him and being a fan of his and just sweating.”
The Arrested Development star added, “And just thinking like this could go really bad right now. I was meeting Kevin Costner, and I legitimately was worried about crapping my pants” (via People).
The Postman is a 1997 post-apocalyptic adventure film starring Kevin Costner, who plays a mysterious nomad on a mission to rebuild the United States. Arnett unfortunately did not make it to the cast lineup, which included Will Patton, Olivia Williams, Tom Petty, Giovanni Ribisi, and more.
Meanwhile, Arnett has recently starred in the 2025 comedy-drama Is This Thing On? Directed by Bradley Cooper, the movie is loosely based on the life of English comedian John Bishop. Additionally, the actor has joined the cast of an upcoming drama film, Behemoth! starring Pedro Pascal, Eva Victor, Olivia Wilde, and Matthew Lillard.
