Avengers: Doomsday’s Tentative Runtime Estimate Is Very Long

A new rumor regarding the runtime of Avengers: Doomsday has surfaced. Although the upcoming MCU film is months away from release, there is intense speculation about the story, characters, and even the runtime. The recent release of four character teaser trailers and the emergence of rumored plot and character details have only contributed to the growing hype surrounding the film.

Avengers: Doomsday could be as long as Endgame

Familiar industry scooper, Daniel Richtman, said on X (formerly Twitter) that Avengers: Doomsday will possibly have a runtime of three hours. If true, this would make the film as long as 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, which had a runtime of 3 hours and 1 minute.

The runtimes of previous Avengers films were:

  • The Avengers (2012): 2 hours 23 minutes
  • Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015): 2 hours 21 minutes
  • Avengers: Infinity War (2018): 2 hours 29 minutes

Notably, Avengers: Doomsday’s directors, the Russo Brothers, have weighed in on the runtime speculation. While promoting their Netflix film The Electric State in an interview with Collider last year, the pair, who didn’t confirm the exact runtime, said, “If I were a betting man, I would say the first one is two and a half, and the second one’s [Avengers: Secret Wars] three hours.”

In recent weeks, four teaser trailers for Avengers: Doomsday were released. The first one confirms Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers’ return and offers a glimpse into his life in the alternate timeline he settled down with Peggy Carter at the end of Avengers: Endgame.

Meanwhile, the second teaser revolves around Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and his role as surrogate father to Gorr the God-Butcher’s daughter, Love. In the teaser, Hemsworth’s God of Thunder prays to his father to give him the strength to fight Doctor Doom.

The third teaser trailer puts the X-Men front and center. The footage shows Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and Ian McKellen’s Magneto playing chess. Later, James Marsden’s Cyclops is seen unleashing an optic blast in rage.

Finally, the fourth teaser trailer shifts the focus to Black Panther, Namor, the Wakandans, and Talokans. It also features Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm/Thing from 2025’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Avengers: Doomsday premieres on December 18, 2026.
