Jimmy Kimmel Slams Melania Documentary, Calls It ‘$75M Bribe’

During a monologue, Jimmy Kimmel bashed the new documentary Melania, which chronicles the life of the First Lady 20 days ahead of the 2025 presidential inauguration. He referenced writer Michael Wolff, who revealed that Melania Trump is upset that the situation in Minneapolis is overshadowing her movie’s release. Moreover, he criticized Melania’s bland response to a question on the ICE protests and what her message to Americans would be about bringing the two sides together.

Jimmy Kimmel savages Melania Trump’s documentary

Kimmel criticized Melania Trump’s documentary during a monologue on his talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! He said, ” According to the writer Michael Wolff, Melania is bigly upset that the murders in Minneapolis are overshadowing the release of the $75 million bribe — I mean, ‘documentary’ — that Amazon made for her.” He further claimed that because the shooting of Alex Pretti and the VIP screening of her documentary happened on the same day, she had to answer questions around the Minneapolis situation while promoting it.

He then showed the audience a clip of Melania, wherein a Fox News reporter asked her what her message would be to America about bringing together the two contrary sides. Her response was, “We need to unify. I am calling for unity.” Kimmel found the remark to be bland, further adding, “Oh, good, Melania’s calling for unity. Either that, or she is ordering tea, it’s hard to tell.”

Melania then went on to talk about her documentary, mentioning that her husband “loved it” and encouraged people to see it. According to her, he called it a must-watch, a remark that he also shared on X.

Criticizing Melania’s remark about her husband liking the movie, Kimmel said, “For him, it is a must watch, not for us.” Kimmel added, “My guess is he saw the first eight minutes and fell asleep in his popcorn bucket … Her son and her husband liked it. All the people in the movie are giving it rave reviews — that’s enough for me” (via The Hollywood Reporter).

The documentary arrives on January 30, 2026.
