Bruce Willis‘ wife Emma Heming Willis has offered a glimpse into her husband’s ongoing health journey, living with dementia. In a recent candid interview, she has opened up about the Die Hard actor’s life after the diagnosis and how it has affected their family.

Bruce Willis’ wife Emma Heming Willis has revealed that the actor “doesn’t know” he has frontotemporal dementia. In a recent appearance on the Conversations With Cam podcast, she gave an update on her husband’s health and how the family is coping with it.
“I think they think this is their normal,” Heming Willis shared. She went on to explain, “There is this term, this neurological condition, that comes with FTD and other types of dementia as well, called anosognosia, where your brain can’t identify what is happening to it. Where people think this might be denial, where they don’t want to go to the doctor because they’re like, ‘I’m fine.'”
She added, “It’s actually, this is the anosognosia that comes into play… Bruce never tapped in. He never connected the dots that he had this disease. I’m really happy about that. I’m really happy he doesn’t know about it (via Variety).
Hemming Willis also shared that the Die Hard star is “still very much present in his body.” She said, “When someone says to me, ‘Does Bruce still know who you are?’ Yes, he does, because he doesn’t have Alzheimer’s; he has FTD. He has a way with connecting with me, our children, that might not be the same as you would connect with your loved one, but it’s still very beautiful and meaningful. It’s just different. You just learn how to adapt.”
Bruce Willis and Emma Heming Willis have been married since 2009. The couple shares two daughters, Mabel Ray and Evelyn Penn. The Pulp Fiction star also has three daughters, Rumer Glenn, Scout LaRue, and Tallulah Belle, with his former wife Demi Moore.
