Latest Netflix Western’s Star Promises a ‘Sexier & Steamier’ Season 2

A Netflix romantic western series that debuted last year has received an important update regarding its upcoming second season. In a recent interview, Ransom Canyon star Garrett Wareing teased that Season 2 would up the ante in its storytelling and plot elements. Notably, Season 2 wrapped production quite recently after commencing it in September 2025.

Garrett Wareing says Ransom Canyon Season 2 will be ‘sexier and more dramatic’

While speaking with Collider, Garrett Wareing promised that Ransom Canyon Season 2 would be “sexier and steamier and more dramatic,” adding, “It’s everything that you want Ransom Canyon to be.”

Following its release, Ransom Canyon Season 1 — which dropped all 10 episodes on April 17, 2025 — received a rotten score of 45% on Rotten Tomatoes but achieved a robust audience score of 73%.

Season 2, currently without an official release date, will pick up from where Season 1 left off. According to series star Minka Kelly, the sophomore installment will have a shorter episode count.

The official logline of Season 2 reads, “The future of Ransom Canyon hangs in the balance as ranching dynasties continue to vie for power, and new faces arrive, threatening the lives and loves of this quaint, western town” (via Variety).

Apart from Wareing and Kelly, Ransom Canyon Season 2 will see Josh Duhamel, Lizzy Greene, Jack Schumacher, Marianly Tejada, Casey W. Johnson, Tatanka Means, Justin Johnson Cortez, Kenny Miller, Philip Winchester, Jennifer Ens, Brett Cullen, and Niko Guardado reprise their roles. They will be joined by Shameless alum Steve Howey, who will play Staten’s half-brother Levi, Patricia Clarkson, Ben Robson, and Heidi Engerman.

However, Eoin Macken and Andrew Liner — who played father-son duo, David and Reid Collins — will reportedly not be returning from the previous season as series regulars, as per Deadline.

April Blair created Ransom Canyon, based on Jodi Thomas’ book series of the same name, and also serves as the showrunner. She is also an executive producer on the Netflix western show alongside Duhamel, Kelly, Joe Fazzio, Dan Angel, and Amanda Marsalis.
