Reba McEntire and fiancé Rex Linn celebrated six years of togetherness. The country icon shared a video of Linn sneaking up to scare her during a photoshoot, proving that even after six years, he still knows how to catch her off guard. Reba’s laughter and surprise perfectly capture the couple’s enduring sense of fun and lasting connection.
Rex Linn pranks Reba McEntire as they celebrate their sixth anniversary
In the clip, Reba McEntire stands in front of a plain white backdrop while Rex Linn hides just out of frame. Out of nowhere, he storms around the corner, pounding the wall and letting out a theatrical groan that makes Reba jump and flail her arms in shock. “6 years together and he’s still scaring me every chance he gets! You know what they say about payback,” McEntire later wrote on Instagram.
Reba McEntire and Rex Linn’s story goes way back. They first crossed paths in 1991 while filming The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw and didn’t reconnect until 2020 on Young Sheldon, later confirming their relationship that same year.
Since then, they’ve shared the screen on ABC’s Big Sky and McEntire’s NBC sitcom Happy’s Place, with Linn appearing in all 13 episodes of the final season. Their September engagement officially sealed a long-term bond that’s equal parts fun and romantic.
Pranks are basically their love language. Reba once laughed while recalling a Halloween stunt in a 2021 interview with Country Now when Rex snuck a seven-foot motion-sensor werewolf into her bathroom, frightening her.
Another time, he showed up on The Kelly Clarkson Show decked out as a Beetlejuice-style ghoul, blue paint and all, asking for a kiss. Rex said he lives for her reactions, often lurking in the shadows just waiting to strike, like that one night he hid in the dark for half an hour before grabbing her ankle at home. Even after six years together, Linn’s mischievous streak keeps the laughter alive, showing that love can be equal parts sweet and silly.
