Donald Trump has revealed why he plans to skip the 2026 Super Bowl. The President not only addressed the decision but also slammed the artists who are set to perform at the star-studded event.
Donald Trump shares why he won’t be at the 2026 Super Bowl
In a recent Oval Office interview with the New York Post, President Donald Trump confirmed that he will not attend the upcoming 2026 Super Bowl. During the conversation, the POTUS also took aim at this year’s halftime show performer, Bad Bunny, and opening act Green Day, both of whom have been openly critical of him in the past.
“I’m anti-them. I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible,” Trump said of the artists. However, the President clarified that their involvement is not the reason for his absence at the Super Bowl this year.
“It’s just too far away. I would. I’ve [gotten] great hands [at] the Super Bowl. They like me,” Trump revealed. “I would go if, you know, it was a little bit shorter,” he added.
In September 2025, it was announced that Bad Bunny will headline the 2026 Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show. The Latin trap artist has been vocal with his criticism of Trump in the past, including his 2025 song “Nuevayol,” which featured an audio of an imitation of Trump saying, “I want to apologize to the immigrants in America. . . . This country is nothing without the immigrants. This country is nothing without Mexicans, Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, Colombians, Venezuelans, Cubans.”
Meanwhile, Green Day will perform at the opening ceremony of the game. The band’s lead singer, Billie Joe Armstrong, recently stood in support of the anti-deportation protesters in Minnesota, where he declared, “I’m not a part of a redneck agenda. I’m not a part of the MAGA agenda.”
The Super Bowl LX for the 2025 NFL season will take place on February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Fans can tune in on NBC and stream the show live on Peacock.
