EJAE congratulates KPop Demon Hunters team after Oscar nominations

On Thursday, January 22, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed this year’s Oscar nominations. The Netflix animated movie KPop Demon Hunters earned two nominations—Best Animated Feature Film and Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures for “Golden.”

After the announcement, the lead character’s singing voice actor, Kim Eun-jae, also known as EJAE, took to Instagram to congratulate the team behind the Netflix hit. She shared the post from the movie’s official account on her Story, and captioned it: “Congrats team.”

The original post celebrated the occasion with a screenshot from the movie that listed the nominated categories and nominees. The caption read, “THANK YOU to the Academy for nominating KPop Demon Hunters for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song. And thank YOU the one reading this. We could never have gotten here without our fans’ support.”

In addition to singing “Golden,” EJAE co-wrote it with Mark Sonnenblick, 24, Ido, and Teddy. While the entire album has received praise, Golden has remained a standout track. Currently, the song has more than 1 billion views on YouTube. Furthermore, “Golden” led the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. at the number one spot for 18 consecutive weeks (via Billboard).

In response to the success the film encountered after it premiered on the streaming service, Netflix released a sing-along version in theaters across Canada and the US. The movie reportedly earned around $24.6 million despite its limited time in theaters (via The Numbers).

Furthermore, Netflix recently reported that the movie received over 482 million views in the second half of 2025.
