Meghan Markle Finding UK Return ‘Incredibly Difficult’ — Source

Meghan Markle is reportedly facing a huge problem with her UK return. The Duchess of Sussex last visited the country in 2022, with a comeback speculated this summer. On the other hand, her husband, Prince Harry, has made visits to his homeland for numerous reasons. As per a source, Markle is concerned about criticism following her return.

Meghan Markle worried about ‘volume of press attention and negativity’ with UK return, per source

Meghan Markle is speculated to return to the UK this summer along with Prince Harry. The couple is expected to participate in the promotional events for the countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. However, many are questioning whether the former “Suits” alum is prepared to face the criticism following her comeback. RadarOnline.com‘s sources have shared that Markle has been viewing this as the biggest hurdle in her return.

A source close to the Sussexes told the outlet, “Her biggest worry is not logistics or protocol – it is the sheer volume of press attention and negativity she expects.” They further added, “She feels the U.K. media climate toward her has only hardened.” Speaking about the return, insiders have claimed that Markle and Harry are discussing travelling together. This might include their kids as well, but the plans are yet to be confirmed.

One royal expert stated that Markle’s “approval numbers in the U.K. remain extremely low, with a clear majority still opposed to her.” The 44-year-old “is acutely aware that large sections of the British press remain openly hostile.” As such, “that level of animosity would inevitably make any return difficult and uncomfortable.” A former palace insider also said, “She feels the U.K. is a place where she is judged without pause.”

“In her mind, every word she speaks and every outfit she wears would be picked apart in minute detail,” the individual continued. Thus, Markle “finds the prospect of facing that level of hostility deeply intimidating.” Another source shared, “In California she feels she has carved out a space where she can manage her environment and protect herself.” They added that UK return “would mean handing that sense of control back to a media culture she believes is unpredictable and fundamentally hostile toward her.”
