Kate Hudson bagged an Oscar nomination, and her famous family joined in to celebrate this milestone achievement. This is the second Oscar nomination for Hudson, who previously received a Best Supporting Actress nomination 25 years ago for Almost Famous.
Kate Hudson reveals how her family reacted to Oscar nomination
Kate Hudson previously got an Oscar nod for Almost Famous (2000), but has not been near the award since. Now, she has received a Best Actress nomination for Song Sung Blues, which was received with positive acclaim by critics.
She found out about the news in the early hours with daughter Rani Rose at her side. “It was dark, and my daughter was like, ‘What is happening?’ She doesn’t usually sleep in our bed, and she came in the middle of the night, so I turned on the television, and she was like, ‘What are you doing?’” she said, “And I got to celebrate with my baby girl, and it was just wonderful (via EW).”
Soon, her loved ones, who include a host of famous people like Goldie Hawn, Kurt Russell, Oliver Hudson, Wyatt Russell, Emily Hudson, Boston Russell, and Zachary Russell, turned up to celebrate.
“My family came over for coffee, and we just sat and talked about how lucky we all are to be in this business and how extraordinary it is,” Hudson explained. “We talked about all of the great movies and kind of unpacked the year, and I just feel super grateful to be a part of all of it. And that’s what we did,” she added.
She also added that her family group chat went crazy after her Oscar nod. “Oh My God! There was so many emojis,” she said.
Besides Hudson, the other nominees for the Best Actress category include Jessie Buckley (Hamnet), Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I’d Kick You), Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value), and Emma Stone (Bugonia). All of them have done an incredible job, and it would be a very tough year to pick a winner.
The 98th Academy Awards (Oscars 2026) will take place on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
