Kaia Gerber Claims Mom’s Naked Photoshoots Weren’t ‘Objectification’

Kaia Gerber is recalling a viral detail from her childhood. She says mom Cindy Crawford’s nude work was never taboo at home. Instead, it was art on the walls, and it shaped her body confidence early. The 24-year-old actor opened up in a profile about fame and privacy. She also described a “book heavy” upbringing and control through theater. Right now, she is in production on Ryan Murphy’s adaptation of “The Shards.”

Kaia Gerber says growing up around mom Cindy Crawford’s naked photoshoots was ‘a gift’

As per Kaia Gerber’s recent Harper’s Bazaar interview, she said her mom’s naked photoshoots were everywhere. “They were, to me, artistic,” she explained. “It wasn’t vulgar; it wasn’t objectification.” She added it was “a gift to grow up in a house that was without shame for the female body.” Still, she described childhood as “pretty isolated,” but “in a really great way.”

Meanwhile, the profile laid out the routine behind the headlines. She said she went to public school, did theater, and joined community plays. “I saw ‘Wicked’ eight times,” she recalled. “I had all the lyrics to ‘Rent’ memorized by the time I was nine years old.”

She said a rare week off included therapy and time in her Los Angeles home. Later, she built “Library Science,” her book club, around reading and author talks. She also said her older brother, Presley, remembers parts of childhood differently.

However, the runway path arrived early, and expectations followed. She recalled adults asking, “What should we all do now?” when she was 10. By 15, she was homeschooled as modeling ramped up. By 16, she was walking shows for Chanel, Miu Miu, and Saint Laurent.

Her dad, Rande Gerber, is a businessman and cofounder of Casamigos. Even then, Crawford stayed blunt about advice. “She doesn’t give out advice unless you ask,” Gerber said. “But if you ask, get ready.” Also, she added, “I’m quite happy to be a vessel.” Now, she is trying to make being seen something she controls.
