Recent leak suggests that McDonald’s may be attempting to evoke nostalgia in its adult consumers by reintroducing the popular Happy Meal toys from the late ‘80s. The leaked photo indicates that the line-up includes not one, but a total of 16 toys to be collected in the series.
McDonald’s reportedly re-launching iconic Happy Meal toy
Earlier this week, an Instagram user, FastFoodToyReviews, uploaded an image, claiming that McDonald’s is bringing back Changeables, the highly popular Happy Meal toys from the ‘80s.
The image also reveals that these toys will be available from January 27, 2026, to March 9, 2026. The description on the poster reads, “Happy Meal features Changeables-themed Apple Slices, Chocolate Milk Jugs, and White Milk Jugs. Don’t forget we have special toys for children under 3.”
Currently, McDonald’s has not made any official announcement about the release. With the leaked date so close, enthusiasts can expect the announcement to be made in the coming days.
For those unfamiliar, Changeables were small toys designed after McDonald’s food items that transformed into robots, dinosaurs, or other creatures, similar to Hasbro’s Transformers toys. The toys were originally sold between 1987 and 1990 across three series. Each series featured six to eight new and unique toys.
For example, the Series 1 included the Chicken McNuggets Robot. As the name suggests, it was a toy shaped like a Chicken Nuggets box that could transform into a robot. The Series 3 included the McDino Cone, which transformed into a cute dinosaur. The video below demonstrates how the toys looked.
While the food chain had stopped selling these toys decades ago, they are still in demand through resale sites like eBay and Etsy. They are sold for as high as $100 for certain pieces, depending on their wear and tear. In contrast, the food giant originally sold it for a little more than $1.
