Finn Wolfhard & Other Stranger Things Stars Spoof Episode 9 on SNL

Stranger Things fans finally got the rumored ninth episode, known online as Conformity Gate, but in a form that no one could have expected. In their latest episode on Saturday Night Live, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, and Caleb McLaughlin participated in a segment that parodied the supposed ninth episode of Stranger Things as a spoof.

SNL spoofs Stranger Things’ Conformity Gate

After Stranger Things ended its long run with an episode that tied up every string together, many fans were left unconvinced by the finale. Over time, this led to a rumor that the show had a secret ninth episode, Conformity Gate, which would be the real finale to the show.

The rumors did heavy rounds on social media platforms like X and Reddit, so much so that Saturday Night Live decided to play on it as Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, and Caleb McLaughlin came to the famous show.

In the latest episode of SNL on January 17, 2026, they played a pre-recorded sketch featuring the three Stranger Things stars. Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, and Caleb McLaughlin can be seen in Iceland to determine the fate of Eleven in a segment that begins with the narrator asking, “Remember that mysterious ninth episode the internet was convinced existed? It didn’t — but it does now!”

“Everything we thought happened was an illusion that was planted by Vecna,” Mike says in the sketch, “He’s still out there!” An unconvinced Lucas asks why they should believe him. “You want one reason?” Mike says, “How about… Eleven.”

As dramatic music plays, the trio turns to spot Eleven in a hospital gown, with her nose bleeding. The only tiny detail change here is that the role is not played by Millie Bobby Brown. Instead, it is Kenan Thompson in her shoes, holding an Eggo.

Moreover, this segment is followed by an announcement that everyone is getting a show. The show gives a glimpse at a few hilarious possibilities.

Saturday Night Live effectively used the internet rumors to create perhaps the most hilarious segment based on the Duffer Brothers show.
