How Donald Trump Made General Hospital Fans Angry

Fans of General Hospital have joined forces against President Donald Trump after his latest speech forced ABC to postpone the airing of the latest episode of the longest-running scripted drama in TV history. His impromptu news program has caused soap enthusiasts to band together and condemn the businessman-turned-politician for his part in the preemption of a climactic General Hospital episode.

General Hospital fans are upset because of Donald Trump

As fans eagerly waited for the new General Hospital chapter to drop, they were instead greeted by a warning from ABC Television programming executive Nathan Varni, who revealed the disruption in airing, as well as its cause.

“Hi everyone — today’s episode of #GH is being interrupted by a press conference, which is beyond our control. We don’t yet have a duration, but we’re monitoring closely and will share updates as soon as possible. Thanks so much for your patience,” Varni said in his X (formerly Twitter) update.

A few minutes later, Varni announced, “Due to ongoing live news coverage, today’s episode will now air tomorrow. Our Canadian viewers will see an encore tomorrow.”

In response, a furious GH fan noted, “So annoying! Why can’t they wait until the evening news. This was not newsworthy! Leave our soaps on!”

Meanwhile, another fan patiently explained that since Trump’s program didn’t feature any breaking news, ABC News could’ve simply shared the bottom line during its usual slot.

Further echoing the sentiment of frustration, a third X user noted, “Can y’all put it on Hulu for us tonight? Us viewers had to sit through this man for 40 minutes already.” Moreover, a fourth soap fan dissed Donald Trump by simply writing, “Next time preempt him.”

One fan was also eager to learn what happened in the episode. They wrote, “Canadian viewers — spoil it for us — was it just a daydream, or did Willow really shoot Drew with a needle?”

Notably, Donald Trump’s news program replaced the General Hospital slot. It saw the US President talk about the controversial ICE raids in Minnesota as well as Venezuela. However, most fans saw it as an unnecessary interruption to their soap time, considering the anticipation around the Tuesday episode of General Hospital.

Notably, the chapter would’ve showcased the aftermath of Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) achieving a non-guilty verdict in her murder trial. Following her acquittal, she decides to target Drew (Cameron Mathison) once again. Willow strikes him with a sedative syringe, causing him to slump to the floor.
