Despite having been in a relationship with fellow Hollywood star Eva Mendes for over 14 years, Ryan Gosling is reportedly facing some issues at home. A source close to the couple has come out to highlight the ongoing problems between the pair, claiming that the two no longer share equal standing in their relationship.
Eva Mendes ‘calls the shots’ in Ryan Gosling relationship, sources suggest
In a recent excerpt published by Star Magazine, a source, who is aware of the dynamics that Ryan Gosling shares with his long-term partner Eva Mendes, disclosed that the La La Land actor is no longer in charge of things at home.
“Eva is the decision maker on everything,” the source noted, before adding, “She calls the shots, and Ryan doesn’t have any choice but to play along!” The insider went as far as to say that “Eva is the CEO of the family.”
Notably, Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes first locked eyes on the set of the Derek Cianfrance-helmed The Place Beyond the Pines movie in 2011. They started dating in September 2018 and have been together ever since. While Gosling and Mendes have shied away from revealing if they have exchanged vows in secret, the couple has welcomed two daughters in the meantime.
In 2024, while speaking with Today, Mendes announced that she is putting her acting career on hold in order to become a full-time mother. She even revealed the existence of a ‘non-verbal agreement’ with Gosling that enables her and the pair’s daughters to accompany the actor to the shooting locations he has to report to while making films.
Nevertheless, things seemed to have spiralled down drastically between the celebrity couple in recent years. “Since the success of Barbie, he’s been working nonstop — which has meant relinquishing day-to-day control of the family and their whole domestic routine to Eva. He just doesn’t have a lot of say in anything outside of his career,” the source remarked, before concluding their account by adding, “Eva is running Ryan ragged.”
Neither Mendes nor Gosling has shared any public statement regarding the aforementioned claims, as of yet.
