Actor Ben Affleck does not intend to push his children into a life of acting. Affleck has three kids, Violet, 20, Seraphina, 17, and Samuel, 13, whom he shares with fellow Hollywood star Jennifer Garner.
Ben Affleck wouldn’t push his children with Jennifer Garner toward acting
Ben Affleck recently revealed that he does not intend to push his children into the same career path that he followed. While speaking to E! News, Affleck told the outlet, “You put something on your children when you have a public life, and that’s complicated.” He expanded, “We really want to give them room to figure out what they want to do.”
This perhaps also comes from reflection on his own life. Affleck started acting at a very early age and has stayed in the limelight for practically all his life. He began his career as a child when he starred in the PBS educational series The Voyage of the Mimi.
“I wouldn’t push them into that. They’re brilliant and lovely and wonderful, and we love them, and we’re proud of them,” he elaborated, before adding that he hopes “they don’t waste their life acting.”
Affleck also acknowledged that his children may face things differently than he did because of the background they come from. “In some way, it was kind of a blessing to anonymity, to struggle, to where we started, which was just in the middle of nowhere.”
Despite his split from Jennifer Garner, Affleck has maintained a good relationship with her and his kids. They were recently seen together in several instances. Reports state that Affleck and Garner have maintained a friendly co-parenting relationship.
Affleck remains active in the industry with a couple of projects coming up in 2026.
