Wild New Thriller Dethrones Stranger Things 5 as #1 on Netflix TV Charts

Stranger Things Season 5 has been replaced on Netflix’s Top 10 Most Popular TV Shows chart by a new arrival. Created by William Oldroyd, His & Hers is a wild thriller series featuring Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal that premiered on Netflix on January 8 and has quickly become a massive hit on the streaming giant.

His & Hers tops Netflix Top 10 TV shows list

His & Hers leads Netflix’s TV show chart for the week between January 5 and January 11. Meanwhile, Run Away has retained its #2 spot, whereas Stranger Things Season 5 has slipped to third place.

The other listed entries are, respectively, 11.22.63; Marcello Hernández: American Boy; Raw: 2026 – January 5, 2026; Stranger Things: Season 1; Stranger Things 3; Ms. Rachel: Season 1; and Stranger Things 2.

Since its debut, His & Hers has become a global sensation, charting in the Top 10 in various overseas markets, including Argentina, Australia, the United Kingdom, and more. It’s an adaptation of the 2020 namesake novel by Alice Feeney. Dee Johnson served as showrunner on the series.

The cast includes Tessa Thompson as Anna Andrews, Jon Bernthal as Detective Jack Harper, Pablo Schreiber as Richard, Marin Ireland as Zoe, Sunita Mani as Priya “Boston” Patel, Poppy Liu as Helen Wang, Chris Bauer as Clyde Duffie, Astrid Rotenberry as Catherine Kelly, and Rebecca Rittenhouse as Lexy.

The plot revolves around Anna, a TV news reporter, who returns to her hometown following a murder and faces her past, including her estranged husband Jack.

The 8-part limited series has received mostly positive reviews from critics, garnering a 66% approval rating on the review-aggregating site Rotten Tomatoes.

Meanwhile, John Anderson of The Wall Street Journal wrote, “Ms. Thompson, an arresting presence at all times, is pure emotional stealth. Mr. Bernthal can treat a tender moment as the opportunity to be overwrought. As twin stars of a crime drama, they’re in different orbits but convincing.”
