At the heart of the criticism, many alleged that Rockelle’s transition would influence young girls to aspire for the same.
Her audience is still quite young, and Rockelle’s new lifestyle could push them towards a direction that they may not prefer in the future.
During her latest interview, Rockelle admitted that she does have a large chunk of young girls in her fanbase. She says she got emails where young girls expressed their dream of joining Bop House after watching Rockelle’s videos. The 18-year-old creator brushed it off, saying, “It’s just the world that we live in.”
She opened up about the career pivot and the subsequent hate in this interview with PEOPLE. “It wasn’t easy,” she explained, “But also, I thrive off of the hate. Honestly, I think hate has kept me around for a long, long, long time. I think, without it, I would have become a little bit irrelevant.”
Piper Rockelle further added that she had no one to lean on in these difficult times, and she was a one-woman show. “Literally no one,” she said when faced with the question, “I mean, just my family. I don’t trust anybody at all, and each time I do trust someone, it just proves another reason why I shouldn’t.”
She added, “I’m cool with what I have. I don’t think anyone takes my relationships or my friendships seriously, so I just don’t take most of them seriously either.”
Despite the criticisms, Piper Rockelle has garnered great momentum online and remains one of the most-talked-about figures right now.
