Brutal Sydney Sweeney Joke That Was Cut From Golden Globes 2026

Golden Globes host Nikki Glaser held back some of her most savage material during Sunday’s award ceremony, and one target was actress Sydney Sweeney. She revealed the brutal joke about Sweeney’s box office performance that never made it to air.

During a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show, Nikki Glaser opened up about several jokes that were removed from her Golden Globes monologue before Sunday’s broadcast. One of the most brutal lines targeted Sydney Sweeney, who was not in attendance at the 2026 ceremony. Glaser explained that she had prepared a joke referencing the actress’s recent box office struggles.

“Tonight is a night of celebration but we can’t ignore that it’s a weird time in Hollywood,” Glaser said while reading the unused joke on air. “People just aren’t going to the theater to see things. If you don’t believe me, there was a movie this year where Sydney Sweeney played a lesbian who just bounced around in tiny shorts for two hours and it made $14.”

Nikki Glaser confirmed the joke was written in anticipation of Sydney Sweeney attending the show. Had she been present, the comedian said she would have delivered the line. The cut joke referenced Sweeney’s recent film Christy. It a biopic about boxer Christy Martin that failed to connect at the box office. Glaser acknowledged that Sweeney faced heavy public criticism in 2025 and admitted the joke was intentionally sharp.

In addition to the Sweeney jab, Glaser revealed she removed several other savage jokes aimed at major Hollywood stars. This includes Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, Julia Roberts, and Jonathan Bailey. She explained that audience reaction, celebrity attendance, and the potential to genuinely upset someone all factor into her final decisions. Despite trimming such high-profile punchlines, Glaser still gave a sharp monologue on the night. She roasted big stars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Timothée Chalamet.
