Chelsea Handler recently appeared on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, where she called out Timothée Chalamet’s remarks during Marty Supreme’s promotional tour. When host Amanda Hirsch asked Handler whether the actor is taking the press run “too seriously”, she replied, “It seemed so.”

Handler added, “[Chalamet] seemed pretty serious about winning and getting acknowledged for his great acting.” The comedian criticized the Dune star’s tone, saying, “He’s a great actor, but it’s hard to hear someone talk about how great they are at acting.”

Handler and Hirsch went on to compare Chalamet to Leonardo DiCaprio, whom they dubbed the “golden star.” The comedian stated that the One Battle After Another actor “wouldn’t talk like that.”

Chalamet has made some eyebrow-raising comments in the past while promoting Marty Supreme. At one interview during the press tour, the actor said, “I’ve been handing in really, really, committed, top-of-the-line performances,” for the last “seven, eight years.”

He also added, “It’s important to say it out loud because of the discipline and the work ethic I’m bringing to these things. I don’t want people to take it for granted. I don’t want to take it for granted. This is really some top-level s—.”

The remarks sparked backlash among fans, with many calling them boastful. However, in another interview with IndieWire, Chalamet revealed that he was channeling the energy of Marty Supreme. “It’s a movie about the pursuit of a dream. I’m leaving it on the field. Whether it’s the merch or the Zoom or the media appearances, I’m trying to get this out in the biggest way possible. In the spirit of Marty Mauser,” he said.

Additionally, in a recent interview on The Graham Norton show, Chalamet clarified that he was simply “in the energy and the tone of the character” after filming wrapped. The actor concluded by saying that he is “living in absolute humility.”
