Ben Affleck’s Ex-Wife Narrowly Avoids Wardrobe Malfunction at Golden Globes

Jennifer Garner made a triumphant return to the Golden Globes red carpet on Sunday, January 11, marking her first appearance at the ceremony in thirteen years. The actress, a long-time favorite of the awards show circuit, looked radiant as she stepped out at the Beverly Hilton. However, her stunning ensemble for the 2026 ceremony almost led to a major red-carpet disaster before the night had even truly begun.

Jennifer Garner says she almost fell at Golden Globes

For her highly anticipated comeback, the 53-year-old star wore a custom black Cong Tri gown that epitomized timeless elegance. The monochromatic, sleeveless dress was a masterpiece of craftsmanship, featuring a staggering 330,000 crystal beads hand-embroidered onto the fabric.

Reports indicate the gown took an incredible 1,300 hours to complete. In a pre-show interview with WWD, Garner admitted the sheer weight of the crystals nearly caused a serious mishap.

She confessed she almost went “flying down the stairs” because the garment was so heavy. “It’s very heavy. It almost sent me flying down the stairs and I almost fell,” Garner shared.

Despite the near-spill, the “13 Going on 30” star maintained her poise, adding that she still felt “sparkly and pretty” in the shimmering look. Garner elevated the ensemble with high-end Boucheron jewelry, including 3-carat diamond Chevron earrings and a white gold Goutte ring. She also debuted a fresh “Champagne Ribbon Brunette” hair color, styled in soft curls with a sophisticated side part.

The evening’s glamour stood in stark contrast to Garner’s morning. She spent her early hours in “mom mode,” taking her daughter to the airport at 5 a.m. and cooking waffles for a group of teenagers. This grounded approach made her return, her first since attending with her then-husband Ben Affleck in 2013, all the more memorable.
