Damson Idris denies being the next James Bond in an exclusive interview with E! News. He paused for a quick chat while walking the carpet at the Beverly Hilton at the awards night. Idris told reporter Justin Sylvester, “It’s definitely not true, it’s just a rumor.” He added that he is honored to be considered for the iconic role. Idris shared, “All these roles are superb, and I think it’s a testament to a young artist to be given that compliment.”
This isn’t the first time Idris has addressed the ongoing Bond rumors. Previously, the actor has addressed these rumors with varying answers. In some interviews, he has given cryptic responses, and in a few others, he has categorically denied it.
In an August interview with Elle, the Snowfall star discussed his new jewellery line DIDRIS and the ongoing Bond rumors. When asked if he had anything to share, the 34-year-old replied, “I have nothing to say. One thing I will say is, whenever that next James Bond movie comes out, I’m gonna be in the cinema with everyone applauding and watching.”
However, in an interview with the Today Show, it appears Idris seemingly hinted at being the next James Bond. The host asked, “James Bond. It’s been rumored, and if you got the James Bond gig, you don’t even have to work on the accent.” The F1 star replied coyly, “That’s true.” Prodding further, the interviewer asked, “So, yes or no? If they call. Damson would say yes?” He declared with a smirk, “I’m already James Bond,” as the host and Idris burst into laughter.
