Glen Powell Admits He’s ‘In Pain’ After Taking Hits on Chad Powers

Glen Powell earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a TV Series – Musical or Comedy for his performance as the lead star in the sports comedy, “Chad Powers.” During his red carpet interview at the 2026 Golden Globes, he joked that he was still in pain after recording for season 2.

Glen Powell on why he’s in pain

On Variety‘s Golden Globes Red Carpet Pre-Show, Glen Powell revealed that he has begun filming Season 2 of Hulu’s “Chad Powers.” He admitted, “I took some hits yesterday. If I’m walking a little weird, it’s because I’m in a little bit of pain.” In the show, he plays the role of a former college quarterback who disguises himself to start over in his pursuit of winning a championship.

Powell also teased what’s coming in Season 2. He told Variety, “We’re leveling up on the football, we’re leveling up on every part of the fish. I’m just really excited about what this season has in store.” He acknowledged that Season 1 “ended on sort of a darker note, and I think that’s what season 2 is definitely gonna represent. It’s really the chaos that Russ Holliday is bringing on the world.” He continued, “It’s all coming crashing down in the best way.”

Others nominated in the category included Seth Rogen, Adam Brody, Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Jeremy Allen White. Rogen took home the award for his role in “The Studio.” Meanwhile, the Apple TV+ show won the Golden Globe award for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy.

In an interview with PEOPLE before “Chad Powers” premiered last year, Powell had revealed that the football scenes were real in the show. He said, “All the football is legitimate. I mean, I’m facing off. I’m squaring up with guys who played pro ball. I mean, these are real.” He also admitted that he had refrained from drinking, which helped him stay in shape.
