Sydney Sweeney Skipped Golden Globes 2026 For a Reason

Sydney Sweeney was not present at the Golden Globes 2026 for a reason. The Christy actress skipped the first awards night of the new year despite being in Los Angeles. Previously, Sweeney had attended multiple pre-Golden Globes events leading up to the main awards night.

Sydney Sweeney missed attending the Golden Globes 2026 last night. The Euphoria alum did not receive any nominations at this year’s Golden Globes despite having multiple film releases last year. Not only that, she was not a presenter either; hence, she seemingly skipped the awards night for this reason (via Elle).

However, Sweeney did attend the Golden Globes’ pre-party in a little black dress with a daring neckline. She paired it with glam night makeup and her now-signature blonde bob haircut.

Previously, the Globes snubbed Sweeney and her boxing biopic Christy from their official nominations. The film is based on the life of one of America’s most celebrated female boxers, Christy Martin, and her struggles to overcome life’s most daunting challenges. Unfortunately, the film failed to set the cash registers ringing and was declared a box office flop within a week of its release.

Christy made only $1.3 million during its debut weekend despite the crew receiving thunderous applause at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September. However, at the time, Sweeney seemed to turn a blind eye to the dismal box office numbers and penned a heartfelt post dedicated to Christy on her Instagram (via Page Six).

She wrote, “I’m so deeply proud of this movie. Thank you to everyone who saw, felt, and believed and will believe in this story for years to come. If Christy gave even one woman the courage to take her first step toward safety, then we will have succeeded.”

The Housemaid star also revealed that the boxing biopic was never about numbers but impact. She penned, “So yes, I’m proud. Why? Because we don’t always just make art for numbers; we make it for impact. And Christy has been the most impactful project of my life. Thank you, Christy. I love you.”
