Amanda Seyfried recently disclosed that she has to take medication for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) even now. In a new exclusive interview with Vogue magazine, the actress went candid about her “really extreme” disorder. She has been suffering from it for a very long time. The formal diagnosis for the disorder took place when she was only 19 years old.

During the interview, Seyfried said, “I was living in Marina del Rey at the time, shooting Big Love.” She continued, “And my mom had to take a sabbatical from work in Pennsylvania to live with me for a month.” The 40-year-old recalled, “I got my brain scans, and that’s when I got on medication.” She further disclosed, “Which to this day, I’m on every night.”

In the meantime, Amanda Seyfried explained that handling her medical condition as a young actor in Hollywood meant professional rejection did not faze her. In the interview, she expressed, “It’s the nature of the beast.” Seyfried further talked about how she had to avoid certain situations intentionally to refrain from getting her disorder triggered by outside factors.

The list included “drinking too much alcohol, or doing any drugs at all.” It further included the factor of “staying out too late.” Amanda Seyfried explained, “I would make plans and then just not go.” She continued, “I guess I did make choices…. I didn’t enter that realm of nightclubs,” adding, “I gotta give credit to my OCD.”
