US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania are reportedly set to attend the premiere of the latter’s documentary film at the Trump Kennedy Center on January 29, 2026. Their appearance will take place a day before the film’s theatrical release by Amazon MGM Studios. The documentary chronicles the first lady’s life, both personal and professional, in the 20 days before President Trump’s second inauguration.
Melania Trump’s documentary premiere details
Donald Trump and Melania Trump are set to attend the documentary’s premiere in Washington, D.C., which will take place at the Trump Kennedy Center. The historic venue, previously known as the Kennedy Center, underwent a name change in December last year to include Trump’s name.
At the time, spokeswoman Roma Daravi confirmed the decision, stating, “The Kennedy Center Board of Trustees voted unanimously today to name the institution The Donald J. Trump and The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts.” The name change sparked significant backlash, with several performers canceling their appearances at the center in protest of the decision.
Not just artists but even Kennedy Jr.’s family displayed their disagreement around the historic building’s renaming. JFK’s niece, Maria Shriver, said in a statement to Reuters, “Beyond using the Kennedy Center to reward his friends and political allies, President Trump is now attempting to affix his name to yet another public institution without legal authority.” She also took to Instagram to share a lengthy note expressing her continued disapproval of the decision.
In a conversation, Melania revealed what inspired her to make a documentary about her life. She said (via Columbus Ledger-Enquirer), “Well, the book was such a success, and I’m very proud, and I get so many messages and letters how they enjoy the book, and they would love — my fans and people — would love to hear more from me. So, I had an idea to make a movie, to make a film, about my life.”
