Season 2 of Acclaimed Marvel Show Still in Works – Report

Following months of uncertainty, a new report suggests that Hawkeye Season 2 remains in development. The Disney+ series led by Jeremy Renner, praised by critics and receiving favorable reviews, has not been canceled. The update has renewed anticipation among fans.

Hawkeye Season 2 still in works for Disney+

Speculation around a second season of the Marvel series has resurfaced after a industry scooper claimed that it remains in development.

Daniel Richtman wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “I hear Hawkeye Season 2 is still in development by the way,” restarting discussion about the future of the Disney+ show. However, Marvel Studios has not issued any official confirmation regarding the project’s status.

Previously, Jeremy Renner has also offered insight into the status of a potential second season. Speaking on The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast in 2025, the actor acknowledged that plans for Season 2 had moved forward after an earlier setback. He said, “We got to where we’re trying to do the second season. And I think I’ll get strong enough to be able to do it. And we’ll work it out. It’s gonna be great.”

Renner has also shared details with Screen Rant about the creative direction a second season could take. “For a second season, that was always the idea to continue that narrative, even in the Christmas framework of it all, too, because they love that world in New York,” he said. 

As of now, the timing remains uncertain, but Renner’s schedule could play a role. His crime thriller series, Mayor of Kingstown, will conclude with its fifth season. Thus, Renner may be available to begin work on Hawkeye Season 2 as early as late 2026 or sometime in 2027.

Moreover, even if the sophomore season doesn’t happen before Avengers: Secret Wars, it could potentially be a part of Phase 7 of the MCU. Nevertheless, no production schedule has been confirmed, and Marvel Studios has also not commented on the project’s status.
