Amid the growing uncertainty over Travis Kelce‘s future in the NFL, the Chiefs star has made an amusing confession. In the latest episode of the New Heights podcast, Kelce offered an update on his plans for the next season.
Travis Kelce says podcast is only company that employs him
Travis Kelce‘s contract with the Kansas City Chiefs expired at the end of the team’s 2025 season, further fuelling speculation about a potential retirement from the NFL. The tight end recently shared more thoughts on his future, along with a hilarious confession.
“I am officially jobless, Jason. Actually, this is my only job.” Kelce joked to his brother and co-host in the latest episode of their New Heights podcast. Jason Kelce then asked, “Well, no, you’re still employed unless you stop playing. Have you announced you’re stopped playing?”
The Chiefs star then amusingly declared, “This is the only company that employs me right now,” referring to the New Heights podcast. Before the conversation could turn serious, Jason immediately shifted gears with a recap of the regular season’s final week. He then launched into his signature energetic introduction for their guest of the day, Matt Damon.
The brothers returned to the topic of Travis’s possible retirement later in the episode. However, the future Hall of Famer remained vague with his words. Kelce shared that he plans on “just being a regular human for a couple weeks, maybe a month or so, trying to figure out what I’m gonna do next in terms of my future in football.”
He also added, “And I think, you know, I’ve talked to a few people in the facility already, you know, having the exit meetings and everything, and they know where I stand at least right now.”
On a more hopeful note, Kelce said, “At the same time, if my body can heal up and rest up and I can feel confident that I can go out there and give it another 18, 20, 21-week run, I think I would do it in a heartbeat.”
