IShowSpeed has made history yet again by winning a 100m dash against Olympic gold medalist Letsile Tebogo, but fans are unconvinced. During his tour across Africa, the popular YouTuber and online streamer made a stop to put on a show of his athletic abilities, racing against Tebogo.
IShowSpeed’s win over Olympic sprinter in 100m race called out
An X video of IShowSpeed racing against Letsile Tebogo, with many fans gathered around the track, has gone viral online. Ten seconds into the video, the race ended with Speed emerging as the winner. He flaunted his win, saying, “I won that, though!” When the Botswana sprinter slipped into the frame, the internet personality asked if he wanted a rematch, but the latter replied, “I’ll let you take the win.”
Tebogo won Botswana’s first-ever gold medal in the 200-meter dash at the 2024 Olympics. He has also held the world U20 record for the 100-meter dash since 2022. Having completed that race in less than seconds, he has become the first man from his country to go past the 10-second barrier.
While many fans are praising Speed for beating Tebogo, others have argued that the professional sprinter intentionally let it happen. At the beginning of the video, the athlete slipped, leading many to believe there should have been a rematch to keep the competition fair.
One fan, X user @jcrew_eth, remarked, “bro clearly stumbled,” referring to Tebogo tripping right at the start of the race. Meanwhile, @BoogieHarrySA suggested, “No that was just a give away. Tebogo just let him win out of respect.” Another user, @MightiJamie, echoed the sentiment, writing, “He slipped though. I think he did that to give you the win.”
User @Kay_beeeh praised Letsile Tebogo’s sportsmanship, adding, “That’s how you accommodate a visitor don’t outshine them.” A few days ago, Speed also demonstrated his physical prowess by racing a cheetah and losing by only a few meters.
