SNL Icon Hilariously Wonders Why They Didn’t Sleep With Anyone on the Show

Maya Rudolph humorously reflected on how she missed out on the opportunity of flirting and sleeping with any of her Saturday Night Live (SNL) co-stars. After spending more than seven seasons on the show, she jokingly wondered, “Why didn’t I like, flirt with people?”

Maya Rudolph recently appeared on her SNL co-star Amy Poehler’s Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast, which was filmed before a live audience. During their conversation, the actress joked that she never got the chance to “sleep” with anyone on the show.

“Can we talk about flirting more? I didn’t get to like, sleep with anybody at SNL. Poor me,” the Loot star said. Poehler sympathetically responded, “I know. I’m sorry. Anybody got a time machine?”

The SNL alum then revealed why she was never able to date anyone from the show. “Why didn’t I like, flirt with people? I’m bad at flirting. That I’m bad at it.” The Parks and Recreation actress then responded, “I agree. You don’t read it. Everyone was in love with you.”

The 53-year-old actress joined the SNL cast in 2000 and remained a prominent performer through 2007. During her tenure on the show, she starred alongside Amy Poehler, Jimmy Fallon, Will Forte, Seth Meyers, Chris Kattan, Bill Hader, and Andy Samberg, among others.

The actress gained popularity for her spot-on and hilarious impressions, including those of Christina Aguilera and Oprah Winfrey. Her performance earned her five Primetime Emmy nominations, and she won twice.

After she left in 2007, she made several cameo appearances on the show. Most recently, she portrayed former Vice President Kamala Harris on SNL in September 2024, during Season 50, amid the 2024 presidential election season. After SNL, Rudolph has also starred in popular projects such as Loot, Grown Ups, Bridesmaids, The Good Place, Big Hero 6, and Forever.

Currently, Maya Rudolph shares four children with her longtime partner, director Paul Thomas Anderson. Although they have been together since 2001, they have never been married.
