Prince William Unbothered by Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s Titles — Expert

Speculation over royal titles has intensified following the decision to remove Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s remaining honors, prompting renewed questions about whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could face a similar outcome in the future. Despite stepping back as senior working royals in 2020 and spending the past five years in California, Harry, 41, has retained his royal titles while living there with Meghan, 44, and their two children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s titles not a priority for Prince William, claims expert

Royal author Tom Bower has previously suggested that Harry and Meghan are living on “borrowed time” when it comes to their titles. Royal commentator Tom Sykes shared a similar assessment, writing in The Daily Beast that William could introduce new letters patent to strip princely titles from non-working royals once he becomes king, a move he described as a potential “dramatic change.”

There is precedent for such a move. In 2022, Denmark’s Queen Margrethe II removed prince and princess titles from four of her grandchildren to “future-proof” the monarchy. Although she later apologized for underestimating the emotional impact. Her son, Prince Joachim, said at the time, “It’s never fun to see your children being mistreated like that. They find themselves in a situation they do not understand.”

Despite ongoing speculation, royal commentator Afua Acheampong-Hagan told the Mirror that she does not believe removing Harry and Meghan’s titles would be anywhere near the top of William’s priorities. According to the expert, William has “much bigger fish to fry” than settling personal grievances with his younger brother.

Instead, the future King remains focused on tackling major social issues and leading ambitious, high-impact initiatives designed to improve lives. An expert said making his brother and sister-in-law’s titles a priority would “only make him look petty.” The expert added that William has neither the time nor the desire to let such a move define his reign, noting that he would not want his legacy to begin with questions like, “Oh, the first thing I’m going to do is take away my brother’s titles, for what?”
