Will Smith and his company are reportedly getting sued by a professional musician for sexual harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination. It’s tied to Smith’s 2025 concert tour.
Will Smith gets sued by musician for harassment
Musician Brian King Joseph reportedly filed a complaint at the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles, on December 30, naming Will Smith and Treyball Studios Management, Inc. as defendants. Joseph, a former top-three finalist on America’s Got Talent in 2018, joined Smith’s Based on a True Story: 2025 global tour in November 2024.
The legal filing accuses Smith of “deliberately grooming and priming Mr. Joseph for further sexual exploitation.” It details that Smith told Joseph, “you and I have such a special connection, that I don’t have with anyone else,” as their professional relationship developed.
The core of the complaint is about a March 2025 incident during Smith’s tour in Las Vegas. Joseph alleges he returned to his hotel room to find someone had entered without signs of forced entry. Left behind were items he interpreted as a “sexual threat of violence.” Even including a handwritten note reading, “Brian, I’ll be back…just us,” with a drawn heart and signed, “Stone F.” Also found were “wipes, a beer bottle, a red backpack, a bottle of HIV medication with another individual’s name, an earring, and hospital discharge paperwork.”
Joseph reported he “feared that an unknown individual would soon return to his room to engage in sexual acts” with him. After notifying hotel staff, police, and Smith’s management, the complaint states a tour manager later “shamed” Joseph. He was then informed that he was being terminated from the tour, with another violinist hired to replace him.
Smith’s attorney, Allen B. Grodsky, has vehemently denied the allegations. He told People, “Mr. Joseph’s allegations concerning my client are false, baseless, and reckless.” Will Smith is getting sued for “severe emotional distress, economic loss, reputational harm.”
