Savannah Guthrie and Jenna Bush Hager had an interesting discussion in the latest episode of Jenna & Friends. Bush Hager made an appearance on the show on December 23, 2025. During the discussion, Guthrie revealed that during a holiday party, she got a bit too rowdy and “spanked” a male network correspondent.
This came up as Guthrie and Bush Hager were answering questions submitted by fans. While picking up one particular question, Guthrie found something that hit close to home. “My office holiday party is in a few days,” she read the inquiry, “My work bestie Jackie is usually ‘over-served’ and becomes inappropriately flirty at these events. Last year, she was hanging all over our boss, and she doesn’t remember it at all. Should I say something ahead of time or roll the dice?”
Jenna jokingly asked if this was the producers asking the question. Savannah, however, shared an anecdote of her own. “I just have to say, as someone who has spanked a network correspondent at a holiday party,” she began. But she also clarified that she did not touch the correspondent, and it was “air spanking.” Guthrie did not identify the guy she had “air spanked” at the party.
Jenna Bush Hager playfully responded to this, saying, “You’ve spanked me before!” Guthrie noted that they were “at that point” in their friendship.
Guthrie ultimately advised the fan who asked the question to avoid the issue. “I don’t think you should say something,” she said, “It won’t be well received.” She added, “I don’t think any good can come of it…I wouldn’t touch it myself.”
