Anthony Joshua gives a brutal threat to Jake Paul during the final pre-fight press conference. He claims that if there is a chance to kill Paul, he will do it, further doubling down on his threat in another interview. Moreover, he expressed his love for what he does and believes that winning is all that matters to him. He also reflected on the ruthless mentality he carries with him when he steps into the ring.
Anthony Joshua shares brutal message ahead of Jake Paul fight
During the final press conference, Joshua issued a warning to Paul ahead of their Netflix fight at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, on Friday, December 19. He said, “If I can kill you, I will kill you.” The following day, he was asked to clarify the harsh words he had directed at Paul earlier in another interview.
He said, “It’s my job — we fight,” Joshua said. “We have a license to kill. I’m sure many people don’t understand it, but this is what my job is. I just enjoy what I do. Whatever happens, happens. As long as my hand’s raised, that’s what’s important, right?”
Joshua mentioned that it’s simply how most fighters step into the ring, with a ruthless mentality. He said he isn’t sure if any fighters think differently, but if they do, he believes they are more tame. “But the things I watch and the way my mind works — when you’re in that ring, it’s a dangerous place to be and anything can happen. You hope your opponent leaves the ring safely, but if they don’t, you still have to go to bed at night knowing that you’ve just done your job, it wasn’t personal,” he further added.
His brutal remark against Paul also caught the attention of Tyson Fury, who will be going against Joshua next year. He took to his Instagram story to condemn his comments by saying, “Here’s a fun fact – if I ever come across you bum, I’m knocking you dead spark out. I ain’t a YouTuber or a man half your size. I am him, the man. You’re a classless loser coming off a 15-month knockout defeat to a local lad (Daniel Dubois). Imagine if someone from Morecambe knocked me out.” He also hopes that Paul knocks him out (via Independent).
