Apple AirTag 2 To Feature 4 New Features — Report

Reports suggest that Apple may be preparing to launch the AirTag 2 in the first half of 2026. The tracking device is already a popular Apple product but there is room for improvement, and the new AirTag 2 plans to do just that. The details have reportedly been found in an internal iOS 26 code. It also hints at several big changes that could significantly upgrade the device.

Apple AirTag 2 will reportedly include iOS 26

While details of the AirTag 2 have not officially been revealed, multiple sources note that this version of the Apple device could feature quicker pairing and more accurate battery level reporting. This has been revealed by the code found inside iOS 26. The same code also reportedly reveals information about an unreleased HomePod mini (via Mashable).

Despite these big updates, there have been no rumors of a redesign. Reports suggest that the company may stick with the simple, intuitive design of the first generation tracking device.

As the AirTag 2 is labelled in the iOS 26 code, one can assume that the device will come very soon. iOS 26 is the dominant OS right now, and will continue to be so for the months to come. This is also the window where most expect the new tracking device to arrive.

Reports further suggest that the new AirTag 2 may also include an improved moving feature that will perform better in motion and crowded environments (via MacRumors). These features should significantly amp up the device’s capabilities.

Apple is also developing a new HomePod mini, which is rumored to run on the S10 chip.

Both these devices from Apple could amp up their lineup for 2026. The previous AirTag was released back in April 2021, and the original HomePod mini debuted in October 2020.
