Sydney Sweeney talks about Ethan Hawke
Towards the end of their conversation on Actors on Actors, Hawke praised Sweeney’s performance in Euphoria, highlighting the vulnerability that she brought to the role.
“It’s exciting to see somebody lay it all out there. I really believe this: The world loves it when you take a dare,” Hawke told Sweeney. “And you took a dare. You’re throwing yourself at your work, and you’re doing a great job. It’s fun to get to talk to you at this moment in your life,” he added.
Sweeney reciprocated with equal admiration for the Dead Poets Society star, saying, “I’m incredibly honored to sit here and have this conversation with you.” The actress continued, “I’ll never forget this. Thank you.”
Sweeney then concluded the interview with a playful confession, saying, “You’re incredible. So, I’m sitting here being like, man, I wish you were my dad.” The remark earned a laugh from Hawke after they shared a high five to wrap up the video.
Earlier in the video, Hawke also spoke highly of Sweeney’s performance as former boxer Christy Martin, in the 2025 biopic, Christy. The Anyone But You star also gushed about Hawke’s recent project Blue Moon, saying she was “completely blown away” by his performance.
Meanwhile, both actors have exciting new movies coming out soon. Sweeney is starring in the upcoming psychological thriller, The Housemaid, alongside Amanda Seyfried. The movie is based on the 2022 novel of the same name by Freida McFadden. The film is arriving on theaters on December 19.
Hawke’s upcoming project is a historical drama film, The Weight, where he will share the screen with Julia Jones and Russell Crowe. Directed by Padraic McKinley, the film is slated for a 2026 premiere.
