Snoop Dogg just added a surprising new title to his already stacked resume, and it’s related to Team USA. As the Winter Olympics prepare to kick off in Milan-Cortina in February, Team USA revealed that the rapper will step into a brand-new role designed specifically for him.
Snoop Dogg named ‘honorary coach’ for Team USA
Team USA officially announced on December 11 that Snoop Dogg has been appointed the first-ever honorary coach for the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC). The move is a major moment for both the organization and the entertainment icon, who became a fan-favorite participant during the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.
The USOPC shared that Snoop will “lend his voice to help raise awareness and resources” for the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Foundation Team USA Fund, while also spotlighting “the team behind the team,” including coaches, medical staff, administrators, and partners who support athletes on their road to the Games.
In a statement, Snoop Dogg said, “I’m just here to cheer, uplift and maybe drop a little wisdom from the sidelines,” he said, adding that “Team USA athletes are the real stars.” He continued, “This team represents the best of what sport can be: talent, heart, and hustle. If I can bring a little more love and motivation to that, that’s a win for me.”
The USOPC praised Snoop Dogg’s commitment to mentorship and community, talking about his “passion for community, mentorship, and elevating young people.” CEO Sarah Hirshland shared the instant rapport he built with athletes, saying (via People), “From the moment Snoop met Team USA athletes, there was an instant connection — mutual respect, genuine curiosity and a lot of laughter.” She added that his enthusiasm for the Olympic and Paralympic movement is “contagious.”
Snoop Dogg has already begun work in his new role, helping to “build awareness for the Team USA Fund,” which supports crucial programs related to mental health, training, education, and career transition assistance for athletes.
