Travis Kelce sparks retirement chat with new comment

On Episode 169 of Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast, during the “bold topics” segment, Jason asked Travis Kelce about the Chiefs’ recent loss to the Texans. “Yeah, man, it’s been a tough f***ing go-around for the past two days,” Travis responded. “It’s just… you put in all this f***ing work in hopes that it pays off, and right now it just, for whatever reason, it’s little things, it’s discipline.”

Further, talking about his struggle in finding solutions to the Chiefs’ problems, Travis explained, “I feel like I’ve always had the answers in years past, and this year, I just can’t find them.”

This statement from the Chiefs’ tight end gained a lot of fan attention, sparking discussion about his retirement potentially being just over the horizon. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), sports media personality Dov Kleiman, mentioning Travis’ statement from his podcast, wrote, “It sounds like Travis is contemplating retirement.” Many users replied to the post, with one user writing, “It’s tough when you can’t do what you once could.” Another replied, “OK, no one’s dying. He had a fantastic career and if he decides to go out now, he goes out a legend.”

Travis then mentioned to his brother how he thinks that if he keeps showing up and putting in the work, it will all come together as it has in past years. However, he admitted that this year it just hasn’t. “Not to say that I won’t keep doing that. It’s all that I can do. I’m gonna always show up to work and f***ing give it my all. And if there’s a game to be played, I’m going to make it the most important game in the world. But obviously, looking at the playoffs, this is a tough reality to be in,” Travis shared.
