Maksim Chmerkovskiy reveals why he won’t come back to Dancing with the Stars
In an interview with Access Hollywood, Chmerkovskiy shared an update on whether he has any plans to make a comeback in DWTS. He said, “I think the boat has sailed. I think my comeback is in the distant past.” While he’s eager to keep dancing, he remains unsure of where the road will ultimately lead him. He explained, “I’m looking forward to so much more dancing out of my body. I’m in maintenance every day for the last 25 years. I don’t see where that’s going to go, and I’m looking forward to creative processes.”
Sharing his thoughts on moving on from DWTS, he said,” [But] I also think Dancing With the Stars is a moving entity, and it just needs to move. And we all just moved a little bit different directions.” Additionally, Chmerkovskiy clarified that he doesn’t think that he’ll be making his way back again to DWTS. ” I wouldn’t want to. I just don’t think there would be space for me, especially in the format that it is today. I can’t fathom doing so much social media, and without it, how do you win?” he added.
In a 2018 interview with MassLive, he addressed his final departure from DWTS, explaining that he simply couldn’t do it anymore and stands at a very different point in his life. He said, “Everything that is up to me, I do at 100% and then give it my all. I just don’t think I can do the show as a professional dancer at 100% and give it my all anymore. I am at a different point in my life.”
