Bryan Fuller has offered a significant update on the future of Pushing Daisies, indicating that Season 3 is now being actively developed.

While speaking to the press during promotions for his latest film, Dust Bunny, Fuller revealed that work on a third season is already taking shape behind the scenes. Fuller said he and his team have prepared a detailed proposal for Season 3 and that every cast member has expressed their interest in returning. He stated, “Well, we’re working on a Season 3, and the whole cast wants to come back. And, we’ve got a whole story. We’re trying to do another season this year.”

The update marks the most significant update on the series since its cancellation. Previously, in an interview with the Comic Book, Fuller said, “We have a season three pitch, and the entire cast wants to come back, and we’re hoping we get to return to them. We just have to find somebody who wants to make it.”

Originally produced by Warner Bros. Television, Pushing Daisies ran on ABC from 2007 to 2009. The series starred Lee Pace as Ned, a pie-maker with the extraordinary ability to revive the dead. Other cast members included Anna Friel, Kristin Chenoweth, Chi McBride, Swoosie Kurtz, Ellen Greene, and Field Cate.

Earlier this year, Pace also expressed his enthusiasm for returning. In an interview with TV Insider, he said, “I haven’t heard anything definite. I love those people. I love Bryan, so I love that character. We’ll see.”

As of now, the show’s existing seasons remain available to stream on HBO Max.
