Ariana Grande Blindsided by Golden Globes Nomination

Ariana Grande‘s chatter spiked after the singer called her Golden Globes nomination blindsiding, for her role in “Wicked”. The pop star turned Glinda actor landed a rare second consecutive nomination for the same role in the Disney flick.

Moreover, she admitted she did not see it coming. Consequently, the 2026 Grande Golden Globes nomination arrived with surprise and gratitude in equal measure. Still, the chart-topper is leaning into the awards circuit again, while juggling promotion and her next screen plans.

Ariana Grande wasn’t expecting Golden Globes nomination this time

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter after the announcement, Grande said, “It is definitely just as exciting [as last year’s nomination] and kind of blindsiding. You don’t expect something like this, let alone [for it] to happen twice for the same role.”

She added, “I’m just deeply honored. I’m just really moved by it.” She then reflected on last year’s run. Grande noted, “I just felt really present, and I was so excited to meet so many actors that I really respect.” About meeting Kate Winslet, she said, “She was just so kind and warm and just had the most amazing, encouraging words to share.”

However, she kept those words close. Grande explained, “I think I want to keep it in my heart.” Even so, she recalled small gestures in the room. “A hand hold, a wink, a squeeze of the hand. It was just beautiful.” Grande also detailed the production grind.

She explained that the two “Wicked” movies were filmed back-to-back. “The first half of the day was young Glinda and young Elphaba in the attic of ‘Defying Gravity,” she said. “After lunch, we came back to shoot me at the end of movie two.” She called the switch “a delicious challenge” and added, “I loved it, and I would do it again every day.”

Finally, she teased what is next beyond Glinda. Grande shared, “I would love to do theater as well.” Therefore, Ariana Grande’s Golden Globes nomination doubles as momentum, while the star keeps one eye on stage work and future roles.
