Timothée Chalamet’s Marty Supreme pop-up causes chaos
A video circulating online showcases fans queuing on the streets. They were waiting to grab their hands on exclusive Marty Supreme merch from the pop-up in Los Angeles. The people were so huge in numbers that it garnered the attention of the LAPD. They were called in at 1:53 p.m. on Monday to handle the situation, per TMZ. The outlet claimed that the woman handling the pop-up had to come out. She had to tell those with no tickets to clear the line.
Despite the security and fencing, the cops were eventually summoned, but they ultimately left with no citations. They did bring additional units to manage, but the pop-up proceeded without shutting down. As per the online video, the cops debated on whether to deem the pop-up an unlawful assembly, but didn’t take the call. The outlet also mentions that the noisy street might have caused an accident, too.
In conversation with ScreenRant, Chalamet shared his thoughts on whether Marty Supreme reflects his pursuit of greatness, a reference he made during his SAG Awards speech. He said, “I don’t know if it does. I look at this movie like running a lap and running a lap with Josh, who’s my director, fierce leader, and collaborator on this. You know, we had an amazing script. He brought an amazing team together.”
Directed by Josh Safdie, the American sports comedy film takes place in the 1950s. It centers on young Marty Mauser, who dreams of becoming a table tennis champion. The cast includes Chalamet, Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Tyler Okonma, Abel Ferrara, Fran Drescher, and Sandra Bernhard, among many others.
