The Tokyo Comic Con 2025 was a star-studded affair with numerous notable celebrity appearances. One of the standout moments from the event came when Johnny Depp was honored with a special One Piece-themed gift. It was to celebrate his legacy of playing another beloved pirate, Jack Sparrow.

Depp made a surprise appearance at the event, joining renowned Japanese voice actor Hiroaki Hirata on stage. Hirata voices Sanji in One Piece and also dubbed Depp’s Jack Sparrow in Japanese. He unveiled the special surprise for Depp with a cheeky introduction.

“I have a friend who draws a certain pirate manga,” Hirata joked, referring to One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda. The VA then presented Depp with a handcrafted noren curtain that featured a stunning illustration of Jack Sparrow, drawn in the style of One Piece.

Designed by Oda himself, the illustration showcases Depp’s Jack Sparrow in his signature art style that One Piece fans are all too familiar with. The original artwork depicts Sparrow posing with a pistol, as he flashes a playful grin. Oda perfectly captured Sparrow’s distinct features, such as the iconic headband and the beard. He reimagined them through his personal artistic flair.

The crowd erupted in cheers as Depp made a playful entrance through the noren curtain. He then posed with it for pictures.

Amidst the growing uncertainty regarding Johnny Depp’s potential return as Jack Sparrow in future Pirates of the Caribbean installments, the actor has been busy with new projects. He continues to focus on his current commitments while fans await updates. He is all set to star alongside Penélope Cruz and Madelyn Cline in the upcoming action thriller, Day Drinker.

Additionally, Depp will also take on the role of Ebenezer Scrooge in Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol, a new adaptation of the Charles Dickens’ classic. The movie is reportedly set for a November 2026 release.
