Ana de Armas reflected on her decade-long friendship with Keanu Reeves during an “In Conversation” session at Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea International Film Festival on Friday, December 4. From Cuba to Hollywood stardom, the actress reminisced about her journey of becoming an action star.
Ana de Armas gushed about Keanu Reeves’ kindness while recalling her first meeting with the celebrated actor. “When I first moved to L.A., we did “Knock Knock “together, and at that time I barely spoke English. It was kind of a frustrating journey not being able to fully communicate, but we still had a great time. We bonded really well, and we have a beautiful friendship”, the actress said.
Calling him “incredibly kind and generous”, Ana revealed that Reeves was one of the first to make her feel at home in Hollywood. The Blonde actress further shared that reuniting with Reeves on the sets of “Ballerina“, the recently released John Wick spinoff, was all the more special. “It felt full circle. Keanu and Chad [Stahelski] have built such a beautiful world with those films, and having him there, supporting me ten years later, meant a lot”, she expressed.
Furthermore, Ana de Armas shared that her action star journey was a wild surprise. “I never thought of myself as athletic or imagined I’d do action movies,” she said. “It started with No Time to Die, then The Gray Man and Ghosted, and Ballerina was another level — very challenging, very demanding. But it was also an exciting character to play, and I really loved expanding that universe”, Armas added.
Ana de Armas and Tom Cruise ended their nine-month romance in late 2025. Ana cited the pace as too fast for her comfort. Meanwhile, the Knight and Day star reportedly wanted to keep things professional, even after the split.
