The Abe star explained that it usually happens only when he’s by himself. He said, “When we’re all together, it’s kind of insanity. But I will say, actually, when I’m alone, I’ve been getting Harry Potter the past few years. It happened three times last year, which has never happened to me before.”

“People think you’re Harry Potter?” Fallon asked. Schnapp responded, “Yeah, they’ll come up to me and be like, ‘I love your show,’ and I’m like, ‘Thank you so much. I appreciate your support.’ There’re like, ‘I adore Harry Potter, and I love the character.'” The 21-year-old actor said that he generally responds by saying, “Oh, wrong franchise.”

Both agreed that there are “some similarities.” Schnapp added, “Yes, there’s a little ‘The Boy Who Lived’ and ‘Zombie Boy’ kind of parallels.”

Schnapp’s character, Will Byers, has gone through an incredible character arc that reaches its new peak in the first part of the latest season. Given the nature of the revelation, drawing parallels between the two franchises makes much more sense now.

The actor also shared that he got the chance to step into the director’s shoes for a scene featuring a young Will. He said that the Duffer Brothers, the showrunners, were “very willing” to let him take on the responsibility.

Stranger Things Season 5 Vol. 1 premiered with four episodes on Netflix on November 26. Vol. 2, which includes three episodes, will premiere on Christmas. Finally, the two-hour finale will air on New Year’s Eve.
