DWTS To Have a Significantly Different Format in Season 34 Finale

DWTS Season 34 finale is almost here, and the show is bringing a big change to the competition. With the season wrapping up, fans can expect the most intense finale the series has ever had.

Dancing with the Stars to change its competition format for Season 34 finale

During the November 18 episode of DWTS, as Robert Irwin, Alix Earle, Elaine Hendrix, Jordan Chiles, Whitney Leavitt, and Dylan Efron competed for a place in the Top Five, co-host Alfonso Ribeiro announced a major twist.

He told viewers, “Next week, we’re taking over all of ABC in primetime with our most demanding season finale in the history of the show. For the first time, we’ll have three rounds of competition.”

The three rounds will include: Instant Dances – Stars must learn and dance to a surprise song live on the show. Make-or-Break Freestyle – A no-rules routine that plays a huge role in the public vote. And a Judges’ choice round where the judges select a routine or dance style for the couples. Julianne Hough, co-host of Dancing With the Stars Season 34, added, “With all the incredible talent this season, you don’t want to miss it.”

The semifinals showed just how strong the season is. Multiple couples earned perfect scores. Carrie Ann Inaba praised Robert Irwin and Witney Carson’s jive to “Baby I’m a Star,” saying, “That is how you tell everyone that you demand to be in the finale… That was insane—so clean, so sharp, so buoyant, so fun!”

Alix Earle and Val Chmerkovskiy also scored a perfect 30 for their Viennese waltz to “Purple Rain.” Derek Hough told Alix, “We’ve seen you transform into a beautiful, beautiful dancer. I have no doubt that we’re going to see you in those finals.”

Elaine Hendrix and Alan Bersten impressed with their dance set on “When Doves Cry,” which made Bruno Tonioli rip open his shirt. He called it, “A regal performance… Majestic.”

DWTS Season 34 finale airs November 25 on ABC.
