LCD Soundsystem Cancel Shows To Work On New Album

The reunited LCD Soundsystem proved once again they still have “it” at this past weekend’s FYF Festival, closing out the two-day event with an epic headlining set that reminded fans why they’re one of the most beloved bands of their generation (see for “yrself” with this fan clip of “Dance Yrself Clean” below).

Things are going so good on this “comeback festival tour,” which has included stops at Coachella, Outside Lands and Lollapalooza, that LCD frontman James Murphy and company have apparently canceled shows in Asia and Australia in order to continue work on their as-yet-unnamed new album.

The dance rock pioneers were scheduled to kick off that leg of their tour in November at the Clockenflap Festival in Hong Kong (that’s a great festival name BTW), but in a letter shared with Clockenflap attendees, festival organizers say there are “studio scheduling conflicts related to [LCD Soundsystem’s] new album.” The rumored, but so far as-yet-untitled album would be the New York band’s first LP since 2010’s This Is Happening

Fingers crossed this is true. Regardless, you can still catch LCD at the upcoming Austin City Limits and Mexico’s Corona Capital
